Terms of Service

Last updated: April 25, 2026

By using Is It Actually Open you agree to these terms. They are intentionally short. If anything is unclear, email us: [email protected].

The service

Is It Actually Open shows crowdsourced "open" or "closed" reports for shops and businesses. Reports come from members of the public. We do not verify them. The service is provided as-is and we make no warranties about accuracy, completeness, or availability. Always confirm with the business before relying on a status.

Your reports and notes

  • Only submit reports about places you have actually checked.
  • Do not submit false reports, spam, abusive content, hate speech, threats, or anything illegal.
  • Do not include personal information about other people in notes (names, photos, accusations).
  • By submitting a report or note, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free licence to display it as part of the service.
  • We may remove any report or note at any time, and may block devices or IP addresses that abuse the service.

Business listings and claims

Place data is sourced from public providers including Google Maps. If you are the owner of a listed business, you can submit a claim form. Submitting a claim does not currently grant edit rights — we use it to verify ownership for future features. To request removal of a listing, email us.

Affiliate links

When a place is reported closed, we may display links to third-party services (such as food delivery or restaurant booking platforms). Some of these are affiliate links and we may earn a commission if you make a purchase. This never changes the price you pay.

Acceptable use

Don't scrape, don't try to break the service, don't use it to harass any business or person, and don't try to manipulate the open/closed consensus for any place.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the service, including wasted journeys based on an inaccurate status. The service is free; use it as a helpful hint, not a guarantee.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

Is It Actually Open is operated by Small Bytes AB, a company registered in Sweden. These terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes that can't be resolved informally will be handled by the competent courts of Sweden, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
